Things got a little “germy” in the 200-wing health class!

In a recent lesson, students learned all about germs. They discovered that germs are tiny living things you cannot see. While not all germs are harmful, some can make us sick, so it’s important to keep them away. Students explored how germs spread—through hands, surfaces, and the air—and learned ways to stop them. They enjoyed listening to songs about germs, with Sid the Science Kid’s “The Journey of a Germ” being a class favorite. The lesson also included a fun “germ hunt,” where students searched for paper germs hidden around the classroom. They wrapped up the activity by affixing adhesive-backed “germs” onto a worksheet.

A follow-up lesson focused on visiting the doctor. Students learned that while doctor visits may happen when they are sick, regular check-ups are also important to help keep them healthy and strong. They discussed what to expect during a visit, including having their height and weight checked, listening to their heart and breathing, and examining their ears, eyes, and mouth.

To bring the lesson to life, everyone had fun dressing up as doctors and exploring the tools used during a visit!
