Extended School Year

The Extended School Year (ESY) Program is for students at The Midland School who require consistency in order to maintain academic, social, behavioral and academic skills. The continuation of a successful school program into the summer months has been shown to provide the structure and routine children with disabilities need to avoid regression. That continuity of instruction can also be effective in reducing the time needed to regain skills in the fall.

The extended program operates a 6 week extension to the school year. All the goals, objectives and services in each student’s IEP are implemented through the summer. Physical education objectives are addressed through our swim program in our fully accessible swimming pool.
