Room 212

This week in room 212, our theme was all about snowmen! Our students participated in fun snowman-themed learning activities all week long. We read adventurous stories like Snowmen at Night, The Itsy-Bitsy Snowman, and If You’re a Snowman and You Know It, incorporating snowmen into all our daily learning activities.

We started the week by learning the “Five Little Snowmen” song using manipulatives labeled 1-5. After singing, each student counted and glued their own set of snowmen with corresponding numbers to practice identification and matching. While some students worked on numbers 1-5, others challenged themselves with 1-10. Students also built snowmen using the letters of their names to practice letter matching and identification.

In our classroom, students love sensory-based learning. Gabriel and Bradan worked on color identification by matching colored hats to the correct snowman. Later in the week, the class enjoyed a sensory activity, finger painting with a mix of shaving cream and glue to create “fluffy” snowmen. Before painting, students used tabletop mirrors to identify their own facial features- head, eyes, nose, and mouth, which they then recreated on their art pieces using scarves, hats, and buttons. Luca loved getting messy with this activity. Finally we brought the snow inside! Students explored real snow with and without mittens and even practiced building snowmen right at the table. We had “snow” much fun learning in preschool 212 this week!
