The Super Seniors in Room 511 are always ready to lend a helping hand! These students take pride in helping others get their jobs done and making daily tasks a little easier for the Midland staff. This fall, they have completed a variety of important jobs, demonstrating teamwork, responsibility, and valuable workplace skills.
Helping the Sunshine Committee
When Midland’s Sunshine Committee needed surveys delivered to every staff member’s mailbox, Room 511 came to the rescue! Andrew and Owen took on the task, carefully placing a survey in each mailbox and keeping track of their progress by checking off names as they went. Although the job took several days to complete, they stuck with it until every mailbox was filled. While working in the staff lounge, Owen noticed that a staff member needed help with the die-cut machine. Familiar with how the machine worked, Owen was able to assist Ms. Aja and help her finish her task!
Keeping OT Supplies Clean
The Occupational Therapy (OT) department keeps our Super Seniors busy, too! Each day, Leo, with guidance from his 1:1 aide, helps wipe down items used during the previous day’s therapy sessions. Working together, they make sure the materials are clean, fresh, and ready for the OT team to use again.
Delivering Important Notices
Room 511 also helps the front office distribute important school notices, including announcements about upcoming days off. The students count out the correct number of notices for each classroom, clip them together, and sort them by wing. Then, they deliver the notices throughout the school, carefully matching the room number on each bundle to the room number displayed outside the classroom. This job requires organization, attention to detail, and responsibility!
Laminating Like Pros!
When it comes to laminating, Jordan and Meghna are our top team members! They handle every step of the process, from cutting out pictures and placing them in laminating pouches to cutting out the finished, laminated materials. Their careful work helps prepare materials that staff can use in classrooms and activities throughout the school.
The Super Seniors in Room 511 are proving that teamwork makes the dream work! Whether they are organizing mail, cleaning supplies, delivering notices, or preparing classroom materials, these students are making a meaningful difference every day.
