Welcome to Midland

Midland works with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing a lifetime of caring for individuals with special needs. We’re driven by an overarching goal—to help each individual to be the best they can be.

Accommodating a wide range of disabilities, Midland offers educational, social, employment, and residential support services. Our approach is highly individualized and incorporates a lot of flexibility, with an emphasis on personal choice, self-advocacy, full community inclusion, and self-determination to support each person’s life goals. For more than 60 years, we’ve been successfully helping individuals reach their highest level of personal achievement and independence, while supporting families as they navigate life with a loved one with special needs.

What's New

Room 220

This marking period in social studies, the students in Room 220 are exploring the structure and roles of the United States government. To launch the unit, we connected the topic to a familiar event—the recent Midland student government elections. Each year on November 4th, Midland School holds its presidential election, Room 220

Adapted Physical Education

Classes Jump Through November Adapted physical education classes are participating in a jump rope unit. First, classes learned a basic jump technique: Feet close together, knees slightly bent, keeping back straight; with both feet at the same time, lower self, push off the ground and land on both feet. Room 222

Room 222 is engaging in a multi-disciplinary lesson inspired by the upcoming holidays! Students are exploring the concept of color through a variety of learning activities tailored to their individual needs. For some students, the focus is on color identification. Bright, high-contrast visuals are used to help them receptively recognize Room 222
