Emergency Closing Information

The decision to delay, close, call for an early dismissal, or keep Midland open is made early in the morning on a day of inclement weather. As conditions may change by the time your child is picked up, parents are advised to use their own judgment as to whether to send their child to school based on local conditions and their child.

Midland’s delayed opening procedure is 105 minutes with school/work center starting at 10:30 a.m. In case of delayed opening you should continue to listen to the radio or check the web site in the event the delay has changed to a closing due to worsening conditions. It is the policy of the Midland School, under most conditions, not to close once school is in session. However, if an individual public school or a bus driver so sanctioned by the public school, desires to pick up the children before scheduled dismissal, the driver shall sign a release indicating that the home has been called and someone is there to meet the child upon arrival.

Midland’s early dismissal procedure will be used when weather conditions warrant. Early dismissal decisions will be announced early in the morning, similar to announcements of delayed openings and closings. Early school dismissal will always be at 1:00 p.m.
