Instructional Highlights – Room 219

The students in Room 219 are learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. They gained a better understanding about the different stages from egg to caterpillar, chrysalis to butterfly during our group reading lessons from our new literacy program called, Readtopia. Spring is here and so are the insects! The students in Room 217 enjoyed learning about insects through some of the works of Eric Carle. In classroom 218, appropriate social skills are a must! Social Skills group in 218 helps students in the class interact in appropriate ways, regardless of how they communicate. In science Room 220 is learning about liquids and solids. We read the book entitled, Discover Water, by Nadia Higgins from the “Get EPIC” website. Students drink water and wash up with water but never think about where it comes from. In the book students are introduced to how we Instructional Highlights – Room 220

Instructional Highlights – HEALTH

Health Instructional Highlights April 2023 Classes are learning about different systems of the human body.  The skeletal system is made up of bones.  After viewing videos about bones and joints, students learned that bones: Students were handed models of bones that they could see and touch.  They were able to Instructional Highlights – HEALTH

The Midland Art Program Artists of every age benefit from Midland’s Art classes.  Students learn about different art topics while using repetitive skills and familiar art materials. Room 504 recently completed a unit on weather. The students learned many important terms associated with this unit as well as performed experiments, viewed power points, read books about specific types of weather and explored various tools and instruments utilized.  The class learned many facts about snow and produced a Instructional Highlights – Room 504

Instructional Highlights – Room 506

Room 506 enjoys choosing healthful snacks and simple meals to prepare in our independent living kitchen lessons. These lessons offer an opportunity to expand student’s language, practice life skills, choose healthful food choices, and give students a sense of independence. Students in Room 512 went on a Scavenger Hunt!  We’ve been working in the Midland grocery store, the 9-3 Market, to learn about purchasing items in a grocery store.  Students learned about the different departments and what items can be found in each.  Next, the students were challenged with a Instructional Highlights – Room 512

Instructional Highlights – Super Seniors

Football and snacks are perfect together Recently, during Super Bowl week, Mrs. Tauscher’s super seniors set up a snack sampling station for the staff.
