Midland’s President & CEO, Mr. Shawn McInerney sent the following letter to all members of the State Senate and Assembly Budget Committees, including Senator Andrew Zwicker, who paid visit to Midland in June. In Room 212, we spent this week talking about caterpillars and reading the book The Very Hungry Caterpillars.  Our students participated in fun learning activities related to caterpillars and our story of the week.  Students worked on counting, one to one correspondence, identifying, and matching the days of the week.  Instructional Highlights – Room 212

MIDLAND APPOINTS PETRIK AS ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

The Midland Corporation Board of Trustees is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Kirk Petrik as Assistant Principal at The Midland School, effective June 1. Instructional Highlights – Room 219

The students in Room 219 are learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. They gained a better understanding about the different stages from egg to caterpillar, chrysalis to butterfly during our group reading lessons from our new literacy program called, Readtopia. Spring is here and so are the insects! The students in Room 217 enjoyed learning about insects through some of the works of Eric Carle. In classroom 218, appropriate social skills are a must! Social Skills group in 218 helps students in the class interact in appropriate ways, regardless of how they communicate. In science Room 220 is learning about liquids and solids. We read the book entitled, Discover Water, by Nadia Higgins from the “Get EPIC” website.
